
The 2012 Lincoln event will start on Friday, September 7th, in Avery Hall on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. In order to keep the ideas flowing in the aftermath of the Startup Weekend experience, Invest Nebraska, the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, and PitchBurner have partnered to create the Startup Week Idea Pitch. As part of this unique event, participants will have 5 minutes to share their idea to a panel of judges for a chance to win $1,000 in cash to help get their idea off the ground. Applications are due on September 9th by Midnight!
Come peruse the local tech start-ups of Lincoln in the Haymarket and downtown areas. Visit the business, get a tour, talk with the entrepreneurs, and learn how their ideas turned into their careers. Participating businesses will be welcoming job seekers, students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and other curious minds from 4 to 7pm. For companies with virtual offices or distant locations, representing booths will be set up on the third floor of the Mill building at the corner of 8th and P. Get a map* and get your crawl on.
Join The Big Plate and Innovation Connect at a Startup Week Lincoln mixer. Kick the week off right with insights from Darren Parker of Lincoln Chrome, David Conrad of NUtech Ventures, Accountant & Fuse Coworking founder Matt Westenburg, and Blake Lawrence of Hurrdat Social Media. Hear short but informative presentations on what these leaders are currently building in the community. Mingle with members from business, research, and entrepreneurial communities. Share ideas and make new connections while sampling some local craft beers from Blue Blood Brewing!
On September 12 from 2:00 to 5:00 entrepreneurs will have a chance to talk one-on-one with some of Lincoln's finest service professionals that have experience working with new and growing companies. This is a chance to talk to knowledgeable individuals on the business, banking, legal and accounting issues that you have been facing. You will also have the opportunity to get an advanced peak at Lincoln's newest co-working space, as Fuse Coworking will be opening its doors to host this event. Fuse Coworking is located on the third floor above the Mill coffee shop at 800 P St. in the Haymarket.
